Presentation by Matthew Snook and Dan Haelsig of Mercer Health and Benefits:

YOUR 2017 HR STRATEGY: A TOTAL REWARDS APPROACH

INSIGHTS FROM MERCER’S 2016 NATIONAL SURVEY OF EMPLOYER-SPONSORED HEALTH PLANS

HEALTHCARE MARKET TRANSFORMATION
More employees moving into lower-cost medical plans contributed to one of the smallest increases in total health benefit cost per employee in decades: 2016’s average increase of 2.4% is the lowest since 2013 and, before that, since 1997, according to our latest survey.

However, it is far from clear that the current low trend can continue, especially with prescription drug costs rising at about 8%. Employers of all sizes continue to be challenged to provide high quality, affordable healthcare coverage for all their employees.

We'll discuss strategies that employers are using to successfully control health spending and improve quality of care for their employees. And we’ll look at innovative programs and solutions that have the potential to fundamentally improve the US healthcare system.

REWARD STRATEGIES IN THE CHANGING HR LANDSCAPE
Whether the economy stays hot and critical talent remains hard to find, or if the economy swings down and workforce cost moves to the forefront on the C-suite agenda, how are reward strategies changing and adapting in 2017?

With the election now behind us, people have quickly turned their attention to determining what changes to expect from the new administration with the potential of changes in Total Rewards. We'll discuss the best practices you may need to implement and what pitfalls you should know in advance.
